Gameplay

Battles are pure turn based RPG style but the dungeon exploration is closer to a Zelda game. You've got a skill such as a bow and arrow you can use to flip switches or stun enemies. Oh did I mention that there are no random encounters? Instead all enemies are on screen like on Chrono Trigger. The Zelda-loke dungeons are full of puzzles, many which are real brain teasers. This gem is an amalgamation of Brainlord, Zelda 3, CT, and Final Fantasy VI. Good stuff.
Has all the options and config settings you could hope for in an RPG like message speed.

Level Design

Incredible dungeon designs are the highlight of the game. The puzzle-heavy gameplay makes this unlike anything else in the genre to that point.

Theme

Typical setting with a storyline that varies quite a bit, but ultimately ranges a bit too much. The talkative main character is hard to root for at times, like when he marries a stranger instead of the girl he grew up with and has followed him throughout the first half of the game.

Art Style

Fantastic artwork. Some of the best sprite work on the SNES. The first person view is still not my favorite though and the lack of animation in the enemies is disappointing.

Audio

Incredible soundtrack
