Math Blaster: Episode 1

Wing Commander meets 2nd Grade math

Genre: educational - n/a

Publisher: Davidson

Year: 1994

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

Wing Commander where you shoot Numbers in food rather than Cats in spaceships. Surprisingly addictive. And it makes you feel smart. It eventually gets old since there's absolutely nothing else to do. Just do 1 and 2 digit addition over and over again. Cursor moves at just the right speed to hit what you want. Hit detection is good not great but I always felt like I hit what I was aiming for.

Level Design Score: 0

Level Design Notes:

What levels?

Theme Score: 3

Theme Notes:

The cockpit makes this look like a real video game. Decent presentation of an extremely simple concept.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

There's so little in this game that it would be a tragedy for it to not look good. It doesn't disappoint.

Audio Score: 2

Audio Notes:

Great sound effects
