Mecarobot Golf for SNES

Mecarobot Golf

Mega Slow Bot Golf

Genre: sports - golf

Publisher: Toho, Ltd

Year: 1993

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

The slowest game of golf I've ever seen. Even starting up the game requires you to skip through three cutscenes just to get to where you can pick your game mode. Has very standard golf controls with picking a club, aiming your shot, choosing a stance, and the (sort of) familiar power meter. There are two main problems: 1. It's impossible to accurately read the power meter. It has all kinds of weird bars. 2. After every shot the camera follows the ball on a poorly animated flight. Every shot. Even those made by your opponents. EVERY SHOT. You have to watc

Level Design Score: 0

Level Design Notes:

There is only one mode with two variants. The first is competition vs Eagle and the other is competition vs Family Members (Eagle and two others). So basically it's always stroke play against at least one computer who plays perfectly ever time. There is literally no fun to be had in this stupid game.

Theme Score: 1

Theme Notes:

So weird. Strangest golf setting since Ninja Golf on the TG-16. Why is there a robot golfer? No clue. He vaguely reminds me of Robin Williams' character in Millennium Man.

Art Style Score: 1

Art Style Notes:

Looks like you're playing golf on the world of Drakkhen. It's a pixelated mess with nothing but tones of brown. The animation of the ball rolling to the hole is nice but that's it for positives on the visuals.

Audio Score: 2

Audio Notes:

An obnoxious song plays constantly. Other sound are ok.

Overall Score: 17
