MechWarrior 3050
Desert Strike in a mechGenre: simulation - tank/mech
Publisher: Activision
Year: 1995
System: SNES
Gameplay Score: 3
Gameplay Notes:
Isometric view isn't my favorite but works ok here. The controls take some getting used to and like most isometric games it's hard to aim properly. You have limited ammo and very little health so you're gonna die a lot. Use passwords to turn on invincibility and unlimited ammo. The game is impossible without the cheats since it's not possible to avoid getting hit. Could've been great
Level Design Score: 3
Level Design Notes:
Only 5 levels, at least I think since the gamefaqs cheat lists only that many I dunno I couldn't beat a single level without the cheats. They seem to just be a square map with a ton of repetitive assets.
Theme Score: 4
Theme Notes:
Huge mechs. Gotta love it
Art Style Score: 4
Art Style Notes:
Amazing animation and detail of your mech. The other sprites look ok but are far less detailed. The environment looks ok but with a lot of sameness. It would be impossible to navigate without the radar map on the pause screen because there are no landmarks or other interesting visuals.
Audio Score: 2
Audio Notes:
No music during gameplay. You instead get to listen to your mech's every footstep.
