Mr. Nutz

Better than Chip n Dale?

Genre: action - platform

Publisher: Infogrames

Year: 1994

System: Genesis

Gameplay Score: 4

Gameplay Notes:

Simple two button controls - jump, throw Made for children so fairly easy although there's barely any health refills Wonderfully responsive controls Predictable enemy patterns Linear level order

Level Design Score: 4

Level Design Notes:

Follows the Mario formula. One level goes right then vertical and then left to the exit. Good variety. Each level has a distinct feel to it like a happy forest then a dark forest then a spider's den.

Theme Score: 3

Theme Notes:

You're a squirrel. Pretty standard no-frills platformer setting.

Art Style Score: 4

Art Style Notes:

Incredible Amazing animation, vivid backgrounds and other elements. Slightly lower quality than the SNES version

Audio Score: 4

Audio Notes:

I wouldn't listen to it outside the game but the music fits the game perfectly. The orchestral tracks switch from playful to mysterious depending on the theme of the level. The music gives the game a dreamlike quality.

Overall Score: 79
