Ninja Warriors

Final Fight meets Hagane

Genre: action - beat em up

Publisher: Taito

Year: 1994

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 4

Gameplay Notes:

Just a great game. No cheap hits. It's very forgiving anyway. Even if you're engaged and hitting enemies when someone attacks from behind or whatever it doesn't guarantee you take damage. Several enemy types which attack very differently. Waves of enemies each take some strategic to defeat. A special move that you can actual use! Just let the gauge power up then save it for a wave of annoying enemies. On a boss figure out how to stall long enough to use it a couple of times.

Level Design Score: 4

Level Design Notes:

Lovely set pieces and scripted events. There's obviously little replay value outside of experiencing it again. Reminds me of Contra 3 for the cool events that happen, like an exploding tanker truck.

Theme Score: 5

Theme Notes:

Post apocalyptic far future. Robots and guns and swords all packed into an awesome sci-fi setting. Again reminds me of Contra 3 or Strider or Terminator.

Art Style Score: 5

Art Style Notes:

Huge sprites, excellent animation, and impressive effects. Love the look of this game and the style is top notch.

Audio Score: 5

Audio Notes:

Thumping sounds make every hit feel substantial. Explosions are loud and visceral. Fantastic music throughout

Overall Score: 85
