Prince of Persia for SNES
Review #435
Prince of Persia
Perhaps you've heard of this game?
Gameplay
Laggy inputs, but the best of thje 16-bit versions of this game. Not enough to bump it up to a 3, but this is the definitive 16-bit version, in my opinion.
Level Design
The levels seem designed to highlight rather than minimize the game's warts. Climbing and descending platforms and jumps are ridiculously tough in this game but the levels seemed designed to make these two things even more difficult.
There's also a 2 hour timer. I guess it gives some urgency but I find it distracting. I'm already playing your dumb game, I don't need motivation to keep going, sheesh.
Theme
Save the girl from the evil dude. Even so this is a stone cold classic setting.
Art Style
Amazing animation. I've always loved the fluidity of rotoscoped graphics, even if they're invariably tied to awful gameplay. This version has the best backgrounds of any version of PoP I've ever played. Any way you look at it this game looks great.
Audio
Classic stuff
