Q*bert 3
Whoopie cushion with eyeballs and a potty mouthGenre: arcade - n/a
Publisher: NTVIC
Year: 1992
System: SNES
Gameplay Score: 1
Gameplay Notes:
Objective is to touch all tiles in a pyramid without getting touched by baddies. Punishing isometric controls - hit the wrong direction and you jump off the cliff. Once you jump you're committed and you have to continuously move. Reminds me of Crypt of the NecroDancer. I cannot train my brain to go the right way. Incredibly difficult since enemies swarm and cannot be killed. Like playing tag against 5 other people simultaneously. Hit boxes are enormous so you can't be anywhere near enemies. Not just about occupying the same space.
Level Design Score: 1
Level Design Notes:
What level design? No new mechanics are ever introduced so there's nothing new or different about levels. The boxes just get rearranged but there's nothing interesting.
Theme Score: 2
Theme Notes:
Q*Bert is admittedly a cute character and he has personality as evidenced by his censored vulgarity after dying.
Art Style Score: 2
Art Style Notes:
Like Ms. Pac-Man this is an arcade remaster done right. The backgrounds are busy and obnoxious but thankfully can be turned off.
