RapJam Volume One

Famous people playable in SNES basketball games - Jordan, Bird, Shaq, Queen Latifa

Genre: sports - basketball

Publisher: Mandingo

Year: 1995

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

Follows no rules of basketball. No fouls, traveling, out of bounds, double dribble, goaltending, backcourt, etc. Passing is impossible and pointless since you only control one player. Unresponsive controls but once you get a feel for them it's manageable. Super weird controls where B jumps but Y shoots. Really weird take on basketball.

Level Design Score: 2

Level Design Notes:

Some interesting modes. Can play any combination of 1-3 v 1-3. Not sure why you'd want play 1v3 but you can.

Theme Score: 0

Theme Notes:

90s rappers like LL Cool J or Queen Latifa are ballers. Uhh, sure, why not?

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

The sprites are impressively animated but the graphics are sooooo dark. The courts are all pitch black. It's like playing basketball in Gotham where it's perpetually night time.

Audio Score: 2

Audio Notes:

Not a fan of the rap beat, but it's not offensive.

Overall Score: 28
