Shaq Fu
Shaq PooGenre: fighting - 1v1
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Year: 1994
System: Genesis
Gameplay Score: 0
Gameplay Notes:
Controls are very floaty and imprecise Jumping sends you the entire length of the screen and you can't effectively attack while flying so it leaves you vulnerable. As a result the fighting is mostly grounded. Shaq is incredibly slow compared to most other fighters. Makes the game impossibly difficult Weird control layout where A seems useless and X is a dedicated taunt button. For some reason. The other buttons are kick and punch. Can't figure out any special moves. Animations are so long that you're open for attack constantly. Zero fun
Level Design Score: 1
Level Design Notes:
Boring arenas. Some have foreground scrolling but they're otherwise uninteresting Normal versus, story, and tournament modes. Story can only be played as Shaq
Theme Score: 0
Theme Notes:
Embarrassingly stupid concept. Might be even worse than the Michael Jordan title.
Art Style Score: 3
Art Style Notes:
Tiny sprites but excellent animations Character models aren't particularly interesting other than the two bosses, Sett and Beast
Audio Score: 1
Audio Notes:
Music is your standard bouncy video game stuff. Very 90s with eclectic sounds like a DJ's disc scratch, percussion, and digital keyboard sounds. Ugly stuff Sounds are comical, especially Shaq's grunts and yips. He does his best Bruce Lee impression and it's hilarious to hear
