Stargate for Genesis

Image: MobyGames

Stargate

Tastes like chicken

Genre: action - gun

Publisher: Acclaim Entertainment

Year: 1995

System: Genesis

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

Lots of things I hate... Enemies take a million hits Invisible projectiles Hard to spot platforms Poor hit detection Enemies have no hitboxes Slow movement However, it has some pluses... Ledge grabs! High jump Still, the combat is super awkward and repetitive. Super Metroid this is not

Level Design Score: 2

Level Design Notes:

Couldn't proceed past the second area. The objective is always to "go find X somethings" with absoleuly no help for finding them. You just have to wander around aimlessly until you find it and the next gate opens. Uggh

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

Awesome movie...but the first levels of the game play out in innocuous caves. Doesn't exactly follow the plot of the movie. But hey, you play as Kurt Freaking Russell

Art Style Score: 4

Art Style Notes:

Good graphics, if you like pre-rendered art (less dark and grainy than Demolition Man) overly long animations make movement a chore

Audio Score: 1

Audio Notes:

Horrible music. It's chirpy and grating. Much worse than the SNES game which had ok music and sounds.

Overall Score: 44

Review ID: 1267
