Stargate for Genesis
Review #4546
Stargate
Tastes like chicken
Gameplay
Lots of things I hate...
Enemies take a million hits
Invisible projectiles
Hard to spot platforms
Poor hit detection
Enemies have no hitboxes
Slow movement
However, it has some pluses...
Ledge grabs!
High jump
Still, the combat is super awkward and repetitive. Super Metroid this is not
Level Design
Couldn't proceed past the second area. The objective is always to "go find X somethings" with absoleuly no help for finding them. You just have to wander around aimlessly until you find it and the next gate opens. Uggh
Theme
Awesome movie...but the first levels of the game play out in innocuous caves. Doesn't exactly follow the plot of the movie.
But hey, you play as Kurt Freaking Russell
Art Style
Good graphics, if you like pre-rendered art (less dark and grainy than Demolition Man)
overly long animations make movement a chore
Audio
Horrible music. It's chirpy and grating. Much worse than the SNES game which had ok music and sounds.
