Super Soccer Champ

The arcade one

Genre: sports - soccer

Publisher: Taito

Year: 1992

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

Ok this is more like it. Play is very quick with responsive controls and quick animations. Simple pass and shoot buttons but with nuanced options for different kinds of kicks or tackles. There's depth of gameplay that I'm not going to get into yet the game is still fast-paced. View is side-on. Sprites are small and the field is also small. Goalies aren't omniscient so it's fairly easy to score goals. Maybe too easy tbh. In fact, I can score with impunity by running to the corner of the goalie box and kicking up-right to score every single time. Well darn. I was having fun but there's no challenge at all in this game. Dang it

Nice looking artwork. Well drawn sprites and some nice graphics and text. Looks and feels like an over the top arcade game.
