Top Gear
Cruis'n gameplay + Mario Kart 64 rubber banding + Road Rash NPCsGenre: racing - arcade
Publisher: Kemko
Year: 1992
System: SNES
Gameplay Score: 3
Gameplay Notes:
Fun arcade racer with a serious Road Rash vibe. Huge field of 20 racers. Major rubber banding going on by the guy in 2nd place is annoying but keeps it interesting. Very forgiving controls makes most of the focus on passing and avoiding other cars and less on making precise turns. No need to break, just go!
Level Design Score: 4
Level Design Notes:
Race around America. Definite Cruis'n vibe going on.
Theme Score: 3
Theme Notes:
Generic arcade racer with decent presentation. The other racers have no avatars or personality so it's just a set of nameless obstacles.
Art Style Score: 4
Art Style Notes:
Excellent performance. No slowdown whatsoever. Great sense of speed. Fairly basic graphics but they're bright, colorful, smooth.
