True Lies
Strafe not as usable as the SNES versionGenre: action - gun
Publisher: Acclaim Entertainment
Year: 1995
System: Genesis
Gameplay Score: 3
Gameplay Notes:
Top-down shooter that isn't twin-stick but has next best thing- a strafe button! However, you have to use the same thumb to shoot and hold strafe so it's too awkward to actually use. This severely restricts how playable the game is. Also the Weapon Swap button is only usable on a 6 button controller! Made by Beam who did Smash TV port Dumb enemy AI Short passwords Thank You!,
Level Design Score: 4
Level Design Notes:
Early example of the "guy in a van" trope Hallways and rooms break up the action and allow things to "flow" from one place to the next. Not just a long hallway like so many 16bit action game
Theme Score: 4
Theme Notes:
Cool movie
Art Style Score: 3
Art Style Notes:
Chibi graphics with nice little touches like going upstairs and seeing people thru windows on lower level. Colors are much darker than the SNES version
Audio Score: 3
Audio Notes:
Repetitive music but good sounds
Overall Score: 66
