Gameplay
Three fighters to choose from and they all have the same moves. So it's just a cosmetic change between the three of them.
Movement is good. It's fast and the hit detection isn't too bad.
The enemy AI is weird though because it just walks towards you no matter what. It just pushes toward you so you can't really get any hits off. You just have to deal with them being right in your face. The best strategy that I found is just to go into the corner duck and smash the kick button. The enemy's dumb enough to just walk into you while trying to attack, but if you're spamming it, you can hit them more often than they can hit you. I tried to play it like a normal fighting game but because the enemies is just always advancing towards you, there's so little that you can do.
The only fun I could find was in setting the difficulty down to child and then using the X, Y and Z buttons to perform special moves automatically.
Level Design
There's the story mode and versus and that's it. I'm not sure how many opponents there are but the levels that I saw have no dynamic content. There's no animation or anything going on in the background.
Theme
This is the Power Rangers. Right? I mean it says VR Troopers but this is very, very, very obviously the Power Rangers. The Battle toads were like the Ninja Turtles but this is straight up the same exact thing. Right? What am I missing?
Art Style
The sprites animate well and are well drawn, but they're boring designs. They're Power Rangers wearing nothing but gray. They're also very small.
Audio
This game uses the standard Genesis sounds. The music is not very good. There are some decent sound effects from the laser like projectiles and there are some voices that some decent.
