Gameplay

Lots of micromanagement. Even more than the first game.
Combat is slightly streamlined in this one. You can assign a unit to attack a specific enemy unit instead of having to send them to a spot and hope that they encounter the enemy.
I still like the simplified gameplay where you just fight. You can build one of three buildings, and you can create units in this one.
The only real problem is the slow pace but also the fact that every single movement you make requires about seven clicks I think. So yeah the micromanagement is dialed up to 11 here.

Level Design

20 maps. No campaign mode. Just beat one map and the game ends.
Five levels of difficulty

Theme

It's the exact same setting as the previous game where you're Julius Caesar.
In this one, there's a lot of humor and silliness in the artwork. Your armies are represented as little chibi sprites and on the title screen they dance and do all kinds of silly things. It almost has an Advance Wars feel to it.

Art Style

The view is isometric which itself creates problems trying to highlight the exact spot that you want.
The artwork is greatly enhanced from the first game, but it's still rudimentary compared to other games of this generation.
Limited colors. It's mostly just brown.
The sprites move around on screen with a few frames of animation. It's cute!

Audio

Again, some decent tunes. You can pick from 6 different songs and they're all excellent. Sound effects are still minimal
