World Class Leaderboard Golf

The worst golf game ever

Genre: sports - golf

Publisher: U.S. Gold

Year: 1992

System: Genesis

Gameplay Score: 0

Gameplay Notes:

What. Is. Happening? This has the single worst guage I've ever seen. There is no way a human being could consistently hit the ball the way that they want to. The gauge moves at hyperspeed and you have to hold down the button and release it at the height where you want to hit it and then press it when it reaches the bottom but it goes insanely fast. Again, there's no way you'll get that second touch or right. Also it is completely impossible to hit the ball less than 100 yards. Oh and putting? Forget about it. The greens have a slope to them. It's just invisible. They don't give you any way to see it. The only way to see it is to actually hit the ball. It's utter insanity. This is by far the worst golf game I've ever played. I'd rather play Golf on Atari 2600.

Level Design Score: 0

Level Design Notes:

I don't know if there are modes and I don't care. This game is so poorly designed. It doesn't deserve any points here.

Theme Score: 1

Theme Notes:

I mean it's golf and it kind of stays out of the way. At least it doesn't have some licensed celebrity in your face the whole time.

Art Style Score: 1

Art Style Notes:

Okay. The art also isn't a complete train wreck. It's extremely flat. Extremely simple. There's an overview map, but it's so tiny that it's useless. The best thing is the little Sprite and the clouds floating around in the background.

Audio Score: 0

Audio Notes:

There's only a couple of sounds that play. Hitting the ball sounds. Nothing like hitting a golf ball. The sound of a putt is like dropping a coin in a tin can. Every now and then there's a voice sample that plays mostly to mock you. It's this deep-throated guy and doesn't jive at all with the rest of the game. Very strange
