Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Maniac Mansion meets Resident EvilGenre: action - gun
Publisher: Konami
Year: 1993
System: Genesis
Gameplay Score: 4
Gameplay Notes:
Unique weapons but too many to keep straight in your head esp when some are nearly useless Cycle through weapons is impossible while enemies are attacking Infinitely spawning bad guys Really, really, really wish it was twin-stick No knockback + swarming enemies means a lot of deathlocks Inclusion of a permanent radar on the side, along with health bars and ammo counts, makes the Genesis release the best to play through.
Level Design Score: 3
Level Design Notes:
Typical collect everything and the exit will open design pattern Labyrinthine levels Some fun elements like hedges you can chainsaw through but honestly pretty standard stuff Episodic levels with fun settings
Theme Score: 4
Theme Notes:
Fun setting, like Maniac Mansion meets Resident Evil
Art Style Score: 4
Art Style Notes:
Beautiful graphics and animation, albeit with less vibrant colors than the SNES version. Distinctive art style. Still good but not as good as the SNES version.
Audio Score: 3
Audio Notes:
Fun music that doesn't sound as good as the SNES version. Major downgrade on sound effects.
Overall Score: 73
