Gameplay

See my review of the Genesis original. Who wanted a direct, unimproved port of this game 9 years after its original release? Why not make Columns 4, or port Columns 3?

Level Design

Like the original this has only a one and two player mode along with three difficulties, whatever that means.

Theme

The Egyptian motif is decent.

Art Style

Only uses half of the screen, even when playing one player. The right half of the screen is constantly blinking "Player 2 Press Start". I hate hate hate this in arcade ports.
Beyond that, it looks fine. Like Columns.

Audio

Someone is randomly pounding away on a pipe organ. Yuck.

Includes an unbelievably annoying weight system, limiting both what you can carry and what your character can use as a weapon. If you’re overloaded, you are unable to move. After buying a few things at the weapons shop I thought the game was broken. I had to Google it and read about this weight mechanic. So stupid. It makes the game nigh unplayable. Even with a minimal inventory of a knife, a helm, and two food rations I could barely walk.
