Gameplay

A clear step below its predecessor, Sanrio Pop'n Smash. The main problem is wonky hit detection which makes it more difficult to hit the puck. And your hits always hit is so weakly that the opponent has no trouble returning your volleys. The only good idea it has is to allow you to hit the puck to the right using A or left using B, but even that feels unnecessary given how enjoyable the gameplay was in the one-button prequel.

Level Design

Also a stpe down from the previous game. Stages are wide and cluttered, significantly reducing the number of times you hit the puck. It's boring. Also, destructible blocks take way too many hits. Collectively these design changes make matches take way too long.

Theme

Hello Kitty is replaced by a dog and some silly cartoon kids. I'm sure it's based on some manga that I would never look at.
No translation exists, which is yet another reason to recommend the Sanrio game.

Audio

The music got on my nerves after a while.
