J.League Super Soccer

The one with multiple cameras

Genre: sports - soccer

Publisher: Hudson Soft

Year: 1994

System: SFC

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

Insanely fast movement. Easily one of the twitchiest soccer game I've played. Difficult passing - the ball just goes in the direction you're facing rather than to a teammate. You can pick on using R but there's not enough time with players flying around the field. The field itself is too small and is crowded with players on it. The only thing novel about the gameplay is that you can choose between one of three cameras, although you choose it before the match starts and can't change it in game, which is annoying.

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

I like how quickly you can get into a game. And it's got some nice modes to select including a practice mode.

Theme Score: 1

Theme Notes:

Almost everything is in English. However, the j-league teams don't mean anything to me and in game isn't very exciting.

Art Style Score: 1

Art Style Notes:

Miniscule sprites. Lots of graphical glitches and slowdown.

Audio Score: 1

Audio Notes:

Just your standard load drone of crowd noise. And some terrible sounds that I think are meant to be a noise maker.

Overall Score: 30
