Super Bikkuriman for SFC
Review #2331
Super Bikkuriman
I'd hate to see not-super Bikkuriman
Gameplay
Only two playable characters. Unfair difficulty, even on the lowest of 5 settings. Only two buttons! I have no idea how to perform a special attack, so I'm reduced to getting in close for standard punch or kicks whereas the opponent is peppering me with projectiles. Terrible hit detection. Supper laggy controls which eat half your inputs. Movement is quick.
Level Design
1P and 2P VS modes only
Theme
All in English. No story, custscenes, etc. Looks like Kamen, or some other 70's Japanese TV show.
Art Style
Horrible character designs. They look like the Power Ranger enemies, or even the older Japanese stuff from the 70s and 80s. Everyone has enormous headgear and shoulder pads the size of small children. Super campy.
The HUD looks like it was whipped up in a few minutes as a proof of concept. The word Pause isn't even centered on the screen.
Audio
Simple compositions that sound like a Master System or NES game. Honestly, they're not terrible but pale in comparison to other 16-bit titles. The sound effects are comically bad and play a second after the action that spawned them. Punch...(wait for it)...pow.
