Super Gussun Oyoyo
Tetris meets Krusty's Fun HouseGenre: puzzle - blocks
Publisher: Banpresto
Year: 1995
System: SFC
Gameplay Score: 3
Gameplay Notes:
Like a mashup of Tetris and Krusty's Fun House. You have to drop Tetris pieces to build a pathway up to the exit. You're at the whim of the blocks you get and the wandering of the dumb character. I enjoyed it in spite of the frustration I felt due to the inability to actually move the character. But it's not great either.
Level Design Score: 3
Level Design Notes:
Every level has the same objective but a lot of little mechanics are added as you progress. Bombs to remove blocks, enemies to kill, water that comes up to kill you, and power ups keep things interesting.
Theme Score: 4
Theme Notes:
You play as these round headed babies. Not exactly a manly setting, but the game has a strong arcade feel.
Art Style Score: 4
Art Style Notes:
Irem is amazing. This looks like it's running on arcade hardware. Animations are amazing. Detailed backgrounds. Reminds me of Nightmare in the Dark for the Neo Geo.
Audio Score: 5
Audio Notes:
Excellent, layered music. Tons of voice samples as well. Looks and sounds like an early 90s arcade game. Seriously awesome sound across the board.
Overall Score: 67
