Super V.G.

The best of the All-Girl Fighters

Genre: fighting - 1v1

Publisher: TGL

Year: 1995

System: SFC

Gameplay Score: 4

Gameplay Notes:

A decent Street Fighter clone with a lot of fighters and fast paced gameplay. It's exactly what you'd expect.

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Has only story and VS modes.

Theme Score: 2

Theme Notes:

All girl fighters, continuing the trope from Sailor Moon, Ranma and Pretty Fighter. This one has far less personality than those other titles so I'll rank it lower than them.

Art Style Score: 4

Art Style Notes:

Foreground elements give the graphics depth and the backgrounds have a little bit of animation. Overall the arenas look quite nice, although they're mostly your typical street scenes. The sprites are very well drawn, if you know what I mean, and animate well. However, like most of these girl fighting games, most of the character designs are similar. I'm not sure why but the aesthetic reminds me of Wild Guns. Maybe it's the use of colors and shading. Either way this game looks pretty good. See what I did there?

Audio Score: 4

Audio Notes:

TONS of voice samples. Like dozens and dozens of them, and they sound great. The music has a few duds but for the most part is quite good.

Overall Score: 73
