Super Wagyan Land
More of an edutainment titleGenre: action - platform
Publisher: Namco
Year: 1991
System: SFC
Gameplay Score: 0
Gameplay Notes:
Gameplay is a blend of genres, including the most basic platforming you've ever seen, word play (shiritori) and card matching. Again, the platforming is braindead simple. Just move to the right for 20-30 seconds to complete the level. You can fire a projectile at enemies. This stuns them for a few seconds. Between levels you play the same two minigames. The first is a guess-the-picture game where a distorted sprite slowly comes into view. There are only three sprites so it's pretty easy to memorize these without being able to read the Japanese characters. The other game is a matching game, I guess, although you have unlimited tries so there's no skill required. Honestly, this plays more like an edutainment title. Avoid it.
Level Design Score: 0
Level Design Notes:
Terrible level design. You basically just hold right and hump every so often. The minigames require no skill either.
Theme Score: 2
Theme Notes:
Cute sprites and an overworld. The game is deceptively inviting.
Art Style Score: 2
Art Style Notes:
Looks nice, like one of those Pac-Man platformers. Nice foreground and background artwork. The sprites have an NES+ quality
