Sutobasu Yarō Shō: 3 on 3 Basketball for SFC

Sutobasu Yaro Sho: 3 on 3 Basketball
Japanese street ball
Gameplay
It's a 3v3 half court basketball game. The rules of the game follow half court basketball where you have to go behind the midline before you can go back and attempt a shot. Certainly a unique concept.
The controls are responsive. Having only two teammates makes passing very easy. However, shooting the ball is terrible because you jump with one button and shoot with the other. I hate it when basketball games do this. The worst thing though is that it is impossible to get a rebound. Utterly completely impossible and your teammates don't even make an attempt. Maybe they know something that I don't. So your opponent can shoot and rebound and shoot and rebound and shoot and rebound until they make it. It's unbelievable and ruins? What is otherwise a okay basketball game.
Level Design
There are two different modes, a tournament called Street cup, and a versus mode.
Theme
I'm guessing that this is based on a manga but I'm not positive on that. There are six teams, each with unique ethnicity or gender to make each of them distinct from one another. Long sets of dialogue play in the tournament mode. It's all in Japanese so it's all lost on me. The whole thing has a street ball vibe which is not my favorite thing in the world, but this does it much better than the US equivalent games of the era. There aren't any American rappers anyway.
Art Style
The artwork looks wonderful. Every sprite is unique. Six teams and three players each give you 18 very distinct looking players. They're animated well and are fun to look at.
Audio
Falls into the seam trap as the American street ball games with a horribly horribly awful hip hop beat as music. It's intolerable.
