Place the block here. No, here. NO, HERE! AAARRGGHGenre: puzzle - platform
Publisher: Nintendo
Year: 1999
System: SFC
Gameplay Score: 1
Gameplay Notes:
Terribly awkward controls. Use Y to inhale or exhale blocks and paint which gives those blocks movement. Red is vertical movement, Blue is horizontal, and Yellow is diagonal. Sounds simple enough, but the truck isn't so much in decided what to do, it's in making the game do what you want it to do. The main problem is that placement of the blocks is done via a grid-based system with miniscule tiles. Combine this the way-too fast movement of your character and what you get is a frustrating game of timing your jump and exhale at just the right moment. It's maddening and not worth the hassle.
Level Design Score: 1
Level Design Notes:
The first few levels teach you the basic concepts of inhaling and exhaling but then 1-8 comes along and presents an impossible task. I know exactly what needs to be done, but it isn't possible. Screw you, game. I'm going to play Lost Vikings instead.
Theme Score: 2
Theme Notes:
Minimal presentation. The objective is to finish the game with as few moves, jumps, inhales, and exhales as possible so the game praises and absolutely mocks you when you get a high or low score.
Art Style Score: 1
Art Style Notes:
One of the least impressive looking titles in the Super Famicom library. It looks like it was drawn by someone who specializes in stick figures.
