Bodycount
An EU-only Menacer title!Genre: shooter - gallery
Publisher: Sega
Year: 1994
System: MD PAL
Gameplay Score: 3
Gameplay Notes:
Fast moving cursors, rapid fire shot, tons of collectible subweapons, good hit detection, and highly destructible environment. What's not to like? The only downside is the extreme difficulty due to the massive number of enemies on screen at any time. There no way to kill them all or even to stay on top of it. Thankfully you can chose an Easy difficulty which is the only way to survive for more than a stage or two. Even then you'll spend at least one continue per stage.
Level Design Score: 4
Level Design Notes:
Stages feature a ton of variety and cool set pieces. The screen might scroll in any direction and can change mid-stage. Stages with moving elements like grains or elevators add even more randomness. The destructible environment adds a lot of fun experiences.
Theme Score: 3
Theme Notes:
Not sure what the theme is supposed to be, but shooting mutant aliens is a good time.
Art Style Score: 4
Art Style Notes:
Fantastic artwork and animation. This looks like a living world filled with grotesque monsters worthy of a lead hole puncher. The sub weapons also look great and provide satisfying explosions and destruction.
Audio Score: 4
Audio Notes:
Good music, especially o the first stage, and solid sound effects that don't annoy.
Overall Score: 69
