Champion Wrestler
Well, it's a wrestlerGenre: fighting - wrestling
Publisher: Taito
Year: 1990
System: PCE
Gameplay Score: 1
Gameplay Notes:
Terrible. I have no idea what to do. 2 kicks and 1 punches. After landing a few hits the other guy falls but he gets up immediately so there's almost no opportunity to pin him. You each have a life meter but no amount of damage seems to deplete it. At least not in a meaningful way. After 20 minutes of constant fighting we had each other down maybe 20%. What a slog. As is typical, hit detection is non existent. Just mash and hope for the best. Oh and your opponent can perform all manner or grapples and throws but you can't do any such thing.
Level Design Score: 1
Level Design Notes:
Only one mode - fight a match. Enjoy.
Theme Score: 3
Theme Notes:
The boisterous crowd makes me want to like this game way more than I do. Easy to jump straight into a fight. Zero Japanese text.
Art Style Score: 2
Art Style Notes:
Colorful game, but small sprites and no animation. The ring and crowd look nice, but this looks like an 8-bit game.
Audio Score: 3
Audio Notes:
Good crowd noise. It's a simple 8-bit experience, but the sound didn't bother me one bit.
