Detana!! TwinBee
The bells bells bells bells bellsGenre: shooter - vertical
Publisher: Konami
Year: 1992
System: PCE
Gameplay Score: 3
Gameplay Notes:
Very easy, owing to the 4 difficult levels and health bar. I HATE how power-ups are earned by shooting bells until they are a specific color. It's so random and so hard to keep track of and competes with, yaknow, actually playing the game. It almost completely ruins what is otherwise a very fun game. Speed is good but the complete lack of weapons is a major bummer. Your peashooter can be upgraded twice but that's it. My other complaint is the need to use a second shot to hit enemies in the background, Xevious style. I hate this sort of mechanic but it's only used about 20% of the time so it's manageable. Two player! Very little slowdown, if any.
Level Design Score: 5
Level Design Notes:
Super creative and visually distinct levels. The designers had a lot of fun with the levels and enemies.
Theme Score: 4
Theme Notes:
So cute. I'm not sure what's going on with the anime boy and girl in this world of anthropomorphic animals and objects.
Art Style Score: 4
Art Style Notes:
I love the art style, but the pixel art is a step below the incredible SFC version.
Audio Score: 5

Standard early 90s Konami music and sound effects.
