Gameplay Score: 1
Gameplay Notes:
Like watching a slideshow on 10x speed. Sprites fly around the screen by disappearing and appearing somewhere else. It's all you can do to mash the attack button and hope an enemy dies after 10 or so hits. Meanwhile you're getting bashed around seemingly at random. Awful hit detection, hitboxes, and a short range of attack round things out. Truly a terrible experience.
Level Design Score: 1
Level Design Notes:
Each level seems to have the same structure - kill all enemies to unlock a gate and proceed to the next locked section. Fight a boss at the end and finish the level. These mini arenas can be extremely long and mostly devoid of enemies so you can run past them to the end. And then have to hold left for 10 seconds to go back and find the enemy that you moved past. There's nothing interesting in the levels.
Theme Score: 3
Theme Notes:
Mechs are always good but this one feels incredibly generic. It's more Rise of the Robots than MechWarrior.
Art Style Score: 2
Art Style Notes:
The actual artwork isn't good. The mechs have some variety and look okay in a screenshot. But in motion the whole game is a slideshow. The backgrounds dont have much details. The sequel is lightyears ahead of this one.
Audio Score: 2
Audio Notes:
Music's pretty decent but the sound effects! Oh my gosh they're ridiculous. So loud! It's like a toddler banging pots together constantly.
