Hiho Densetsu: Chris no Boken
Tomb Raider Jr.Genre: action - hack n slash
Publisher: Pack-In-Video
Year: 1991
System: PCE CD
Gameplay Score: 3
Gameplay Notes:
Castlevania clone with the standard features like slow movement, tricky platforming, and good ranged weapons. The weapons are the highlight, including a wedge projectile, a boomerang, and a long sword. The slow movement is what holds this back the most.
Level Design Score: 4
Level Design Notes:
Each stage has a very short time limit. Dilly dally for even a few seconds and you'll run out of time, which is measured in days! Stages are linear and long, and feature tons of one-time, interesting set pieces. There's a fair amount of precision platforming and annoying enemy placement but the level design is good on the whole.
Theme Score: 4
Theme Notes:
It's all in Japanese, so I don't know what's happening, but you're an anime Lara Croft with a couple of sidekicks in the cutscenes. The setting is a series of jungle caves.
Art Style Score: 3
Art Style Notes:
Pedestrian artwork for the most part. A couple of cool effects in the background but the sprites are not great.
Audio Score: 4
Audio Notes:
Excellent, atmospheric soundtrack with weak sound effects.
Overall Score: 68
