Gameplay Score: 4
Gameplay Notes:
This is Parodius in everything but name. Before starting you pick from one of three weapon sets, the name of the game is to pick up three options which each get their own weapon from the aforementioned set. This and the three difficulty levels adds some replayability. Easy is just that, which I appreciate. By and large this is a fun no nonsense shooter. It's great
Level Design Score: 3
Level Design Notes:
Stages are pretty standard stuff. Just a single screen high with chaotic wave after wave of enemies. Nothing spectacular or memorable.
Theme Score: 4
Theme Notes:
Again, this is a Parodius clone so expect craziness. Cute and fun.
Art Style Score: 4
Art Style Notes:
Enemy sprites are great, with every ball and spaceship featuring googly eyes. It's a lot like Coryoon or Air Zonk in that regard. The backgrounds, while colorful, don't have much details and no parallax.
Audio Score: 5
Audio Notes:
Great CD quality music. But honestly it's the sounds that do it for me. They're loud and solid, with fantastic explosions that don't fit the cutest theme at all and I love them all the more for it. It only adds to the surreal nature of the game.
