Gameplay Score: 3
Gameplay Notes:
Reminds me of Kablooey for SNES. The objective is to touch every tile to change its color. Enemies wander around and can be killed by shooting them. Movement is awkward, but manageable. That's the only downside about this fun little game. It's got a couple of little mechanics, like enemies who change the colors of the tiles, and a short time limit, but it's little more than a painting simulator. Fun, but simple.
Level Design Score: 4
Level Design Notes:
The levels are small, maybe 3 screens tall and only one or two wide. They generally have a teleporter and one or more dead ends. My only complaint is that the enemy spawn points toggle between active (and deadly), and deactive. The timing is unpredictable which makes it hard to know if and when you can walk over them. This is often necessary so the unpredictability is annoying.
Theme Score: 2
Theme Notes:
The whole thing has a weird vibe. It's like a discount Taito game.
Art Style Score: 2
Art Style Notes:
Low-brow, low-key pixel art. The right one-third of the screen is a hideous, busy HUD. The sprites are kind of endearing, but the tiles and background use garish pastel colors. Not a looker.
Audio Score: 3
Audio Notes:
I enjoyed the music. It's lively and chirpy.
