Super Uno
The worst way to play a great party gameGenre: tabletop - cards
Publisher: Tomy
Year: 1993
System: SFC
Gameplay Score: 1
Gameplay Notes:
Is there anything sadder than playing a card game alone? Solitaire is so named to drive home this very concept, but at least it's designed to be a single player game. Uno, on the other hand - despite having a similarly singular name - has no business being played alone. And because it's on the telly, you can't very well play it with a friend. Covering your eyes just don't do it, I'm afraid. Besides, who in their right mind wouldn't bust out one of the five decks of Uno cards you've got lying around before considering a menu-driven game a digital Uno? No one, that's who.
Level Design Score: 2
Level Design Notes:
Two to six player games plus a weird story mode with some of the worst minigames ever made. The core game is fine (minus your own favorite house rules), but that's all to find here.
Theme Score: 4
Theme Notes:
Choose your avatar from a set of 16 ethnically diverse (well, Caucasian and Japanese anyway) Guess Who characters. They've got some repetitive trash talk during your match, which oddly gives the game a measure of charm.
Art Style Score: 3
Art Style Notes:
What do you expect? It's a card game. But the Guess Who gang is fun.
Audio Score: 3
Audio Notes:
A cheerful song keeps you company during gameplay
