Third World War
Saving the world one menu at a timeGenre: strategy - 4x
Publisher: Extreme Group
Year: 1993
System: Sega CD
Gameplay Score: 1
Gameplay Notes:
Plays like the Koei titles. Lots of menus and resource allocations before ending a turn. When in battle the controls are painfully bad. You have to micromanage every unit/army which is only annoying if you've got more than a handful. It's not a good time though, and moves at a snail's pace. Ultimately it's perfectly playable but not much fun. Success or failure is mostly up to chance.
Level Design Score: 3
Level Design Notes:
There's some intricacies and scenarios to play. But they're all about the same - eitehr go on a conquering spree or be the world's police and stamp out everyone's aggressive tendencies.
Theme Score: 2
Theme Notes:
Playing wiht the actual world map is initially a fun prospect, but after long it feels a bit too real. I prefer escapism, thank you very much.
Art Style Score: 2
Art Style Notes:
It's a bunch of menus and a simple world map. What do you expect? The battles are isometric and look good.
Audio Score: 2
Audio Notes:
I like the song that plays, but it's short and thus very repetitive.
