Thunder Blade
Hey I can beat stage one in this versionGenre: shooter - corridor
Publisher: NEC
Year: 1990
System: PCE
Gameplay Score: 1
Gameplay Notes:
This version is better in most ways than the Genesis version. Movement in the behind view is significantly improved such that you don't have to strictly adhere to the draw a box method of play. It's still annoying and I didn't enjoy it much but again is an improvement over the Genesis version and it's horrible movement speed. The top down view, on the other hand, is massively improved. Not great, but passable. Whereas the Genesis version was like the Pilotwings helicopter level as an autoscroller, this one is basically 1942 if you can't move vertically.
Level Design Score: 2
Level Design Notes:
Every level is about the same, barring some cosmetic changes.
Theme Score: 2
Theme Notes:
Helicopters are cool, right? I like the modern setting.
Art Style Score: 2
Art Style Notes:
There are only a couple of enemy sprites. I liked the graphics more than the Genesis version. That one felt zoomed in too close. I like the smaller sprites and wider vistas of this version.
Audio Score: 2
Audio Notes:
Another massive improvement despite not being great
