Gameplay Notes:
I HATE the meters and gauges in this game. They're so awful. Everything is on screen at the same time and there's no indicator to show what is currently active, so it's hard to know what you're currently changing. I usually hit B a whole bunch just to make sure I'm back in a known state on the club selection. And besides that there's a huge delay after making a selection so you're not sure when it's moved to the next thing. This is particularly awful on the final step because the power selector is made by pressing an holding A and releasing to make a selection. I can't tell you how many times I tapped A thinking it wasn't quite ready only to make the tiniest swing ever. And even when you engage the power meter properly, it's insanely hard to hit the ball at the right level. The gauge curves weird, the movement speed changes based on the terrain, and if you go beyond 100 percent then you duff the ball and it goes nowhere. I did this about 75% of the time. Terrible
Level Design Score: 4
Level Design Notes:
All the modes you could ask for. Lots of customization available too.
Theme Score: 3
Theme Notes:
Pretty standard stuff. The only notable feature are a bunch of selectable characters whose avatar shows you how they're feeling after each stroke. It's kind of funny, especially the bald asian guy named Skinhead.
Art Style Score: 2
Art Style Notes:
Ugly, especially when preparing to shoot. It's a blocky, pixelated mess. The overhead view looks much better, although there's no alternatve view on the green to show curves. Cluttered UI makes it hard to see details on the course.
