Worms for SNES PAL

Worms

Don't play solo

Genre: puzzle - platform

Publisher: Ocean Software

Year: 1996

System: SNES PAL

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

Probably only works as a multiplayer game. The only mode I can find allows me to play as every player using a single controller. Controls are fine, although movement is annoying. It's turn based and you can select a weapon and fire it at a nearby enemy Worm. The novelty wears off quickly. My main complaint is an inability to move the camera to see the map. How am I supposed to aim at anything outside of my immediate area?

Level Design Score: 2

Level Design Notes:

The stages seem random and the game places players all around the map in clusters. Who ever goes first in these groupings has an advantage. Mm k

Theme Score: 3

Theme Notes:

Cute, I guess. Worms using weapons, hehehe

Art Style Score: 1

Art Style Notes:

The teeniest, tiniest graphics ever. Like Lemmings without the fun animations in the environment. The novelty of numerous weapons is negated by the fact that there are basically no visual effects. Every explosive weapon simply creates a hole in the environment and the melee weapons have no visual at all.

Audio Score: 3

Audio Notes:

It has music, which is already better than the Mega Drive version. It's lively and fun. Sound effects are still almost non-existent.

Overall Score: 31
