Adventures of Yogi Bear for SNES
Review #17
Adventures of Yogi Bear
Not your average licensed game
Gameplay
Passable Sonic and/or Adv Island clone - gotta continuously collect clocks to maintain time remaining
No attack, just jump and bob enemies who are only the obstacles
Tons of collectables - the main draw is to get a high score
Decent controls although there's a delay stopping as it completes the run animation.
Level Design
Just get to the end of the level. Follows DKC model of tons of optional collectables.
Lots of blind jumps
Easy to spot platforms
Collectables include picnic baskets you can bounce off one before they disappear. These are arranged in a line or in a pattern and challenge is to collect them all.
Repetitive use of the same picnic basket arrangements.
Better than the standard "collect all keys before exiting" design of so many licensed titles.
Theme
Just collect stuff
Art Style
Very nice. Everything looks great, cartoony, and not flat like the THQ crap.
Audio
Nice music and sound for the genre and matches the game well
