Art of Fighting for Genesis
Review #4032
Art of Fighting
Missing the fan service
Gameplay
Standard SFII clone right down to having Ryu (Ryo) and Ken (Robert) clones.
Controls ok although special moves are hard to pull off.
Three buttons - punch, kick, and heavy attack which is sometimes a punch or kick. Kinda weird.
8 fighters but only two can be played in story mode.
Level Design
Standard 3 round fights but can be made 1 round in the options. Can also turn off time limit. The difficulty can't be dialed down like in the SNES version. Normal here is too difficult for me.
Theme
Dumb damsel in distress storyline. Each fight starts and ends with a little dialogue but it's all formulaic at best. Completely unforgettable stuff.
This might be the only fighting game without a female character. There's an androgenous one named King so maybe that counts?
Art Style
Nice animation. Big sprites
Backgrounds have a bit of animation but are not memorable
Missing the camera zooms from the SNES version.
A definite step down
Audio
Standard stuff. Not bad
