Asterix and the Great Rescue

How do you say "terrible" in French?

Genre: action - platform

Publisher: Sega

Year: 1994

System: Genesis

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

Unremarkable platforming mechanics but the kicker is that you have zero offensive capabilities. Touching an enemy deals damage to you and you're only attack is a punch which literally has zero range. If you hit them they hit you because you have to be in their hitbox. Eventually you pick up potions which give you a projectile but only three at a time. There's some promise here I suppose, but it's fully unrealized.

Level Design Score: 0

Level Design Notes:

Maybe I'm being too harsh, but the gimmick on each of these levels is so obscure that I doubt anyone would find it on their own. Enemies are too hard to avoid, platforming requires too much precision, blind jumps abound and the puzzles are obtuse. Zero fun to be had in here

Theme Score: 1

Theme Notes:

I guess the French like this stuff
