Gameplay

Controls are perfectly fine aside from two characters who are so slow they aren't worth using. But there are 5 to choose from and they each play a bit different so there's some variety.
Main problem is the high difficulty. And the reason for it is super annoying. The enemies grab you. A lot. Like, constantly. They get cheap hits in all the time but the grabs are unbearably annoying. In fact, the hit detection is just bad.
Even on Easy this game is impossible.

Level Design

The first level is ok. It's a standard walk through a street and then you come to a bridge with pillars in the foreground that almost completely block your view which would be fine except that you spend a fair amount of time fighting enemies behind them.
It's the second level which absolutely breaks this game. It's a sewer (very original guys) with branching paths. The problem is that most paths take you back rather than forward so you play the same segments over and over and over. It's maddening.

Theme

Same old same old. The story changes depending on the two players you pick although you only get to play as one.

Art Style

Lovely pixel art. Bold colors replace the washed out artwork of the first game. The game takes a very comic book style with word bubbles appearing when you smack enemies. The enemies themselves are quirky, like something from Captain Commando.
