Brett Hull Hockey

The one where you can't score

Genre: sports - hockey

Publisher: Accolade

Year: 1993

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

Low view of the rink makes going down difficult. Unresponsive controls. I swear it ignores me most of the time when I call for a pass or a shot. Impossible to score.

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Exhibition, Seasons of varying lengths, and Playoffs plus a boring Shootout mode.

Theme Score: 2

Theme Notes:

I hope you like Al Michels cuz this game is all about his play by play announcing. "Passes to 16. Hit by 18. Shot by 14. Save. Passes to 16." Even pausing the game plays a long soundbite which can't be skipped. Michels talks the entire time. Oh and only Brett Hull has a name. Everyone else is a number despite the NHLPA license. No NHL license.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Audio Score: 0

Audio Notes:

The voice samples are technically impressive but incredibly annoying. Mute!

Overall Score: 31
