Gameplay

Somehow the game plays a smidge better than its sequel. Not good, but better.
Still nearly impossible to shake a defender. Very difficult to score. No ability to call plays or make anything happen. Just shoot and hope for the best.
Again very slow movement.

Lots of configurable options.

Theme

Very good presentation with an ESPN like commentary before and after games.
Full rosters and whatnot.
But again only 16 playoff teams

Very choppy animation
Player sprites are well drawn

Includes an unbelievably annoying weight system, limiting both what you can carry and what your character can use as a weapon. If you’re overloaded, you are unable to move. After buying a few things at the weapons shop I thought the game was broken. I had to Google it and read about this weight mechanic. So stupid. It makes the game nigh unplayable. Even with a minimal inventory of a knife, a helm, and two food rations I could barely walk.
