Devil's Crush for TurboGrafx-16

Image: MobyGames

Devil's Crush

Genre: arcade - pinball

Publisher: NEC

Year: 1990

System: TurboGrafx-16

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

Mostly more of the same as Alien Crush. Good physics, for the most part. One exception is that the ball tends to roll away from the flippers at the bottom of the table so you lose balls way more than you'd like. Another problem is aiming the ball. It feels much more difficult to hit the ball where you want it to go, especially at extreme angles away from the flipper. The screen scrolls rather than snapping between levels of the table. This is more realistic and is visually impressive but I don't like it as much.

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

The table has three levels but after 30 min of play I never saw the top level. In fact I spent at least 80% of the time on the bottom level. It got monotonous after a while.

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

Has a medieval, dragon theme. I don't see "devil" here, but it's still pretty cool. Lots of little critters spawn and honestly that's kind of the problem. There are so many obstacles in the way of the ball that it's hard to hit it anywhere interesting.
