Gameplay

Turn-based combat.
Extremely simple, boring combat. Maneuver your characters into a position from which they can strike and then choose a weapon to use.
Isometric view except sometimes it's a dungeon crawler, I guess. I never saw those areas.
Lots of menuing.
Very slow movement.
I appreciate not having to push any buttons to talk with someone.

Level Design

I couldn't find anything to do. I was outclassed in nearly every battle and would have to run back to the castle to heal after every fight. I also never gained levels or earned money or any of the usual rewards for grinding. No idea how to progress.
The world is empty. There's no loot to find or anything to do other than walk around looking for enemies to fight.

Theme

Well it's D&D, for better or worse. The tiny bit of narrative you're given is that the castle has been teleported to a new world and you have to go find allies. Whatever that means.

Art Style

Maybe this looked good way back when, but the Ultima-inspired artwork does nothing for me. Yuck

Audio

An ok song which gets old after hearing it play on repeat. Luckily you can mute it. After that the game is virtually slient. Final Fantasy this is not.
