Gameplay

Very responsive controls, as usual. Main problem is that the new guy is not fun to play with and the token fast girl of course is a complete waste. So this game is all about Mayor Mike.
Gets repetitive quickly. After playing it once there's no reason to replay.
Super easy on the Easy setting. Beat it first try.

Level Design

Seven levels
Vertical scrolling
Waves of three enemies
Train level is cool. Otherwise nothing super interesting.
Traveling around the world is nice although it begs questions about the logistics involved.

Theme

Love the theme. Traveling around the world to save Guy's fiancee and her dad is ok I guess. Not sure what it has to do with the Mad Gear Gang but that's the story. Why Guy didn't come along is beyond me.

Art Style

Hug sprites with great animation. Backgrounds are mostly static but are well drawn and don't recycle much. There's a lot to look at. Great use of color.

Audio

Music is passable but not great. Many of the sounds are ripped from other SNES titles. All I can think of is "that sound is from Good Troop".

After buying a few things at the weapons shop I thought the game was broken. I had to Google it and read about this weight mechanic. So stupid. It makes the game nigh unplayable. Even with a minimal inventory of a knife, a helm, and two food rations I could barely walk.
