Hyper V-Ball for SNES

Image: MobyGames

Hyper V-Ball

So hyper you won't have time to say the full name of the sport you're playing. Hyper hyper hyper

Genre: sports - volleyball

Publisher: Mc O'River

Year: 1993

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

Fun for about 60 seconds but then the monotony sets in. Bump set spike, bump set spike, etc. There's nothing else to do and points go on forever. Controls are minimal at best. Basically you just need to stand in the right spot and hit the button in quick time events to jump and spike it. There are even two hit buttons but they seem to do the same thing. I was hoping one was a hard hit and the other a soft one like in Super Tennis but no such luck. Just painfully boring stuff

Level Design Score: 1

Level Design Notes:

There are three leagues - women's, men's, and hyper which is robots (ala 2020 Super Baseball). They all play the same. You can also adjust the difficulty and ball does but again these do nothing.

Theme Score: 2

Theme Notes:

It's volleyball. Has there ever been a good volleyball game? The menus and presentation is ok but the game's concept is lame.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Minimal graphics. View is perfectly side on so there's minimal animation or effects.

Audio Score: 3

Audio Notes:

Decent sounds. Music is there but it's unintrusive.

Overall Score: 27

Review ID: 227
