Ignition Factor for SNES

Ignition Factor

Not The Firemen you are looking for

Genre: adventure - overhead

Publisher: Jaleco

Year: 1995

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

Each level has a time limit that's so restrictive that you have no time for exploration. You also have so little "ammo" for your firehouse that you couldn't if you wanted to. Movement is incredibly slow. You can run with an imprecise double tap of the d-pad but this only makes movement even more difficult. Way too much menuing as you can only have two items equipped. The menu is unintuitive and can only be closed by moving a mouse cursor to click an OK button. Was this supposed to be on PC?

Level Design Score: 2

Level Design Notes:

Levels have multiple levels (pseudo 3D) which would be ok if not for the poor hit detection and flames that are under top level platforms. There's a dedicated button to show what's underneath but this is just awkward. Difficult to see elements you can interact with. Everything looks samey. Again, there's a punishing time limit which only gives you time to finish the level "the right way". Not fun imo

Theme Score: 2

Theme Notes:

Fighting fires isn't my idea of fun
